BANGOR -- Bangor police arrested a man early Wednesday morning after he allegedly assaulted a dog and then the dog's owner.

According to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, officers arrested 34-year-old Dirk Weber after he reportedly punched a dog and then punched the dog's owner when they tried to intervene.

Weber was located on Front Street just before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to McAmbley, when Webber was questioned, he was uncooperative.

He says Weber became more disorderly when told he would be issued a summons for assault.

While being transported to jail after his arrest, Weber reportedly struck his head against the cage in the police car, cutting his forehead.
