JASPER, Texas (KTRE) - A Jasper County inmate has added a charge of criminal mischief after being disruptive in court on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said.
On Tuesday, Tommy Shivers, 49, of Jasper, was in court. He has been incarcerated on driving while intoxicated charges, and had been escorted from jail to court.
According to the sheriff’s office report, Shivers became disruptive in court, so he was being taken out of the building, still in handcuffs, by a deputy. As they were walking out, Shivers slammed his elbow into a glass door, shattering it, the sheriff’s office stated. Neither Shivers nor the deputy were injured.
An arrest warrant was issued for Shivers for criminal mischief, greater than $100 and less than $750.
