AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV) - U.S. Senator John Cornyn has announced that the FBI have agreed to assist in locating and investigating the Texas House Democrats that fled the state and broke quorum in the special session.

Friday marks day five of the redistricting standoff as House Democrats delay voting on a new congressional map that could flip five seats to favor Republicans in the upcoming midterm election and could change the who represents East Texans in 15 counties .

Sen. Cornyn has revealed that the FBI will become involved after he sent FBI Director Kash Patel a letter on Tuesday, asking the bureau to determine whether the Democrats violated corruption laws.
