BENTONVILLE, Ark. — These days, it’s a bit confusing at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.

I’d been tracking the museum’s expansion that will add 114,000 square feet of galleries, studios, event spaces and more, scheduled for completion in 2026. When I learned that the newly installed Foundations of American Art gallery was the first fully transformed gallery to open in the expansion, I misinterpreted it as the first additional gallery to open. ×
