LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Angelica Hernandez has requested that the city council dedicate a memorial garden to her sister, Grizelda Hernandez, and her one-year-old son, Dominic Hernandez, nearly eight years after their murder.

The mother and child were murdered by a former Border Patrol supervisor in April of 2018. Years later, on August 4, 2025, the city council approved Angelica Hernandez’s request to create a memorial at Father McNaboe Park.

An archway is set to be erected at the entrance of a trail that will be named the “Dominic Peace Trails.” Angelica Hernandez believes this initiative will not only benefit her family but also serve the community as a whole.
