“Wheeler came out of his last start a little sore — more sore than he normally is,” Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday morning. “So we got an image done. It’s clean. We’re just going to give him a couple of extra days. It’s going to be (Cristopher Sanchez) on Friday, (Jesus) Luzardo on Saturday and Wheeler on Sunday.”
Thomson later noted the Phils could “back him up even more if we need to” because the team has an off day Thursday before the first action of a 10-game road trip.
