Enterprise, Ala. (WDHN) -- The Enterprise City Council unanimously voted Tuesday to elect District 3 Councilman Greg Padgett as the new Council President for the remainder of the current term.
Padgett’s nomination came from Councilwoman Sonya Rich during the August 5 council meeting.
The motion to elect him was made by Councilman Scotty Johnson and seconded by Councilman Eugene Goolsby.
He steps into the leadership role following the announcement that current Council President Turner Townsend will step down from his position as councilman, effective August 31.
Tuesday’s meeting marked Townsend’s final time presiding as Council President.
“I’m truly honored my fellow council members chose me to serve as president for the rest of this term,” Padgett said. “I’m grateful for their trust a
