CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Another former law enforcement officer is officially in the running for the seat of Mecklenburg County Sheriff .
Retired chief deputy Rodney M. Collins has launched his campaign, zeroing his platform on three main focus areas: public safety, community collaboration and equitable transparent leadership. Collins's focus on leadership includes zeroing in on restoring accountability from the top down, while he also wants to see incarceration transformed into opportunities for personal development and reintegration into the community.
Collins spent 30 years with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and rose through the ranks, working in every major division there. He also said he sat on different professional boards and work groups in the local justice system. He also tou
