BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - The man charged in connection with the death of 17-month-old, Elena Hembree, was back in court this week.

Harvey Gollahan appeared virtually for his first pre-trial conference Wednesday in Bell Circuit Court. He is facing charges of murder, multiple counts of first-degree criminal abuse, and being a felon in possession of a handgun.

Chief Circuit Judge Keith Nagle delayed the trial as prosecutors and defense attorneys work toward a possible plea deal. Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Taylor said the agreement could resolve all of Gollahan’s pending charges at once.

Taylor also confirmed that Gollahan’s testimony played a key role in the conviction of his co-defendant, the child’s mother, Erica Lawson.
