A construction bid for two pre-kindergarten centers was given the green light Tuesday by the Williamsburg-James City County School Board.
The bid was awarded to Oyster Point Construction Company for $37,475,000 in support of constructing two pre-K centers at Norge and Clara Byrd Baker elementary schools. Each 41,000-square-foot center is expected to hold 252 students while including 18 classrooms, a multipurpose room, an administration suite and additional areas. Both are scheduled to open in fall of 2027.
The move comes amid discussion about redistricting . During a June meeting with the board and consulting firm MGT Impact Solutions, Superintendent Daniel Keever said it was the first of “different conversations” the board needed to be involved with.
