( 25News Now ) - Two seasons ago, Illinois were one of the oldest teams in the country, and made their deepest run since 2005 to the Elite Eight. After entering last season with no returning starters and one of the youngest teams in the country, the Orange and Blue finished 22-13 overall and fell in the Round of 32.
This season, Brad Underwood’s squad has a healthy mix of talented underclassmen, as well as experienced returning stars from last year’s team like Kylan Boswell, Tomislav Ivisic, and Ben Humrichous.
The Illini complemented their experienced returners with transfer portal additions in Andrej Stojakovic (Cal) and Zvonimir Ivisic (Arkansas), as well as international signees in Mihailo Petrovic and David Mirkovic.
