( 25News Now ) - For Bloomington’s Lolo Jazo, her passion and love for cycling have put her on a national pedestal.

Jazo has competed at the National Senior Games for the last 20 years, but at this year’s edition in Des Moines, she earned two silver medals in the 80-84 division of the 5K and 10K time trial events to add to an impressive cache of trophies from all over the world.

She also ran her first marathon back in 1979 at the Chicago Marathon, and her last one in 2011 at the Athens Classic Marathon in Greece.

The 83-year-old initially began trailblazing her path as she helped start the girl’s sports programs at Pawnee High School, 30 minutes south of Springfield.

Her motto: “You have to keep going...you just have to have a positive attitude, you can’t slow down.”
