HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -- The Harrisburg Bureau of Police is turning the lights on safety.
The city is offering a free outdoor ceiling light to eligible residents. It's an effort to increase lighting and safety in the community.
To qualify you must: • Not live in public housing; • Already have an outdoor fixture installed on a front or back porch; • Be a Harrisburg resident;
Outdoor lights make for a critical part of a home security plan, SafeWise said. Leaving a porch light on can deter bad deeds in the neighborhood, help family members get indoors safely at night and acts as a spotlight for the front door.
