Automated speed cameras will be installed in seven designated school zones over the coming days, James City County Police announced.

Norge, Stonehouse, D.J. Montague, Clara Byrd Baker and James River elementary schools, as well as Toano Middle School and Lafayette High School, have each been designated for the installation. The process will occur during daytime hours and involve signs, camera hardware and radar devices on the roadways near the schools.

The installation is part of the county’s Automated Speed Enforcement program. It was authorized last September by county supervisors in agreement with Blue Line Solutions, LLC, the county’s ASE vendor. The vendor has completed its permitting, police said.
