After months of deliberation, the Supreme Court of the United States released a flurry of decisions throughout late June and early July. The many different rulings gave President Donald Trump broad executive authority, partially answering long-debated questions about presidential power. As a result, this term has been one of the most damaging in decades. Specifically, the decision in McMahon v New York has allowed the Trump administration to effectively gut the U.S. Department of Education , which will have negative reverberations for decades to come. It gives an absurd amount of power and deference to the executive branch, a trend the Roberts Court has continually doubled down on.
