TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - In late April, Dakota Hutson put his boots on for another workday just as he had hundreds of times.

During his day as a lineman, he went to touch a transformer he believed was shut off. It wasn’t and over 7,000 volts went through his body, severely burning much of his upper body.

“I didn’t know if he was alive or ok or anything,” said Kimberly Hutson, Dakota’s wife.

Dakota was in the hospital for over a month. He had an artery rupture several times. After some hope he could keep his hands. Doctors informed him they’d need to amputate most of his arms.

“I was just worried I wouldn’t be able to pick up my kids again,” said Hutson.

Dakota got his prosthetic arms last week. Since then, he says he’s been able to dress himself and complete most basic tasks.
