LUBBOCK, Texas- The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance says the Hub City is seeing significant momentum, outpacing Texas as a whole when it comes to economic growth.

According to LEDA President and CEO John Osborne, Lubbock’s gross domestic product has increased by 56% over the past decade, compared to 34% statewide.

“We’re basically up 40% over what the state has done just in the last decade,” Osborne said.

Osborne credits a combination of local investment, large employers and young talent for the growth. One example is Leprino Foods, a national cheese manufacturer that opened its Lubbock facility in 2024.

“They’ve hired 600 people, they’ve exceeded every expectation, and they’ve helped our smaller communities thrive by buying milk directly from local dairies,” Osborne said.
