BELL COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) - The Nolanville Fire Department chief’s petition just got the green light from the county commissioners court. It aims to create an emergency service district in Bell County.

The new district could generate funding through property taxes that would allow underfunded departments to increase their resources.

A new ESD would include departments in Nolanville, Harker Heights, Belton, Temple and the areas outside of those city limits.

“What that will do is create funding through property taxes that will be put strictly towards fire services, which will better fund fire protection in the whole district,” says Nolanville Fire Chief Robert Cunningham.
