TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - This morning, first responder communities across Central Texas came together this morning to honor Temple PD Officer Toalua Charlie Aumua who tragically passed away in a drowning last week.

Family, friends and first responders packed the Vista Community Church in Temple to remember Officer Aumua for his courage, dedication and care for everyone he met.

Officer Aumua joined Temple PD in 2020, after he briefly worked for the Bellmead Police Department.

In 2024, he became an active member of the Temple SWAT team.

Aumua has received multiple awards for and commendations, including Recruit Officer of the Year in 2021 and Temple Police Officer of the Year in 2023.
