GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A 19-year-old former Gwinnett County student is facing multiple charges after police said he brought a knife and THC vape pens onto the campus of McConnell Middle School early Tuesday morning.

According to Gwinnett County Public Schools, the man, Zanjina Yakubu, entered the school through a side entrance as someone was walking out. It happened before the school day began.

An arrest warrant states the former student had a knife with a blade longer than 2.5 inches in his possession while on school property.

Yakubu's also accused of refusing to leave when told and was charged with failure to leave campus when directed. In addition, he faces a felony charge after officers found two THC vape pens in his possession. Credit: Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office
