If they're right, the 2025 national champions will be the Texas Longhorns. Well, not exactly.

The preseason USA Today coaches’ poll was released earlier this week and the team quarterbacked by the prodigal Arch Manning was at the top, but it’s been nearly a decade since the team at the top of the preseason coaches’ poll won the national championship (2017 Alabama). In fact, the last two seasons have seen the preseason No. 2 team, according to the coaches, hoist the College Football Playoff trophy in January.
