United Airlines grounded flights nationwide on late Wednesday, with the Federal Aviation Administration issuing ground stops at major airline hubs, including Newark, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver and Houston.

BWI-Marshall Airport was not among the affected airports listed by the FAA.

According to FlightAware, more than 900 flights were delayed as of 10 p.m. EDT.

“Due to a technology issue, we are holding United mainline flights at their departure airports,” United said in a statement posted to its website on Wednesday. “We expect additional flight delays this evening as we work through this issue. Safety is our top priority, and we’ll work with our customers to get them to their destinations.”
