CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Monsters announced staffing changes on Wednesday and one of them involves one of their players. Former team captain Stefan Matteau was named an assistant coach.
Matteau posted 2-5-7 in 15 appearances for Cleveland last season before announcing his retirement after 13-seasons in professional hockey. He was in the NHL, AHL, and top European leagues. Matteau, 31, was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the first round (29th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
Also, equipment manager Mike Murphy was named Monsters’ Head Equipment Manager.
