LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The role of a teacher includes various tasks that affect performance and mental health. As the new school year begins, one district is starting with high hopes and low stress levels.

The Laredo ISD Performing Arts Center buzzed with laughter as hundreds of teachers attended the annual back-to-school convocation on Wednesday, August 6.

Comedian Joshua Nieto, a keynote speaker, brought comic relief and positive vibes to educators, including Interim Superintendent Guillermo Pro .

“They are going to turn that energy into our mantra for this year, and we’re gonna level up everything we do. From the custodians, to the people in the cafeteria and also the people who drive the buses, all of the stuff that we’re doing, we’re doing it for your kids,” Pro said.
