DES MOINES, Iowa —
Using cloud services more, reducing duplicate workforce opportunities, and revising the public workers' retirement program are among the 45 recommendations revealed at Wednesday's meeting of the Iowa Department of Government Efficiency task force.
Three workgroups — workforce, technology and return on taxpayer investment — shared their findings based on weeks of meetings, research and input from thousands of Iowans.
"It was put on us as the task force to really look at the benchmarking out there. How do we run a state like a business, where we're looking at the results and looking at the outcomes, not just the programs?" said Emily Schmitt, the task force chairperson and also general counsel for Sukup Manufacturing.
