EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — Hundreds of school supplies including back bags were given away in East Hartford on Wednesday.

Pencils, pens, notebooks and backpacks were all handed out for free during the annual back to school drive held on the town's green.

Darius Williams says the town is ensuring families are prepared with the supplies they need to succeed.

Williams is the East Hartford's youth outreach specialist. He and his team were at the event providing details on what they do along with other services in town.

“There's a lot of families coming together getting resources for school as well as a lot of town organizations passing out information letting the community know what we have going on,” he said.
