HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) — Loved ones are remembering a prominent Harlem leader who passed away Wednesday.

Lloyd Williams, best known as the co-founder of Harlem Week, lost his courageous battle with prostate cancer at the age of 80.

Williams was deeply immersed in the culture of Harlem from a young age, and for more than half a century, he dedicated his life to uplifting the community, while bridging economic development and civic engagement across the neighborhood.

He co-founded Harlem Week to spread positivity during a difficult time for Harlem. Williams is deeply missed by all who knew him, including Marko Nobles, who has known Williams since childhood.
