MANCHESTER, N.H. —

Some Granite Staters are raising concerns about the transparency of the Education Freedom Account program, saying it's unclear where the money is going.

"This is taxpayer money that's going to these private and religious schools, and we don't know how it's being spent," said Megan Tuttle, president of NEA-New Hampshire.

The concerns come after the program's administrator, the state's Children's Scholarship Fund, announced it had reached its 10,000-student cap.

Officials said more than 11,000 students applied before the July 31 deadline.

"The response has been overwhelming," said Kate Baker, executive director of the Children's Scholarship Fund.

The voucher program, which launched in 2021, was recently made available to all New Hampshire students under Gov. Kelly Ay
