A part of Bedworth's historic Almshouses could be enhanced. The Nurse's House is a prominent part of Bedworth Almshouses, which was originally founded by Nicholas Chamberlaine, the rector of Bedworth, who then gifted the estate as a legacy to the town for charitable uses.
The Grade II listed building has two different functions, with the basement acting as part of the Bedworth Heritage Centre and the ground and first floor being a residential building. A planning application has been submitted to make some internal changes to it.
But as the building is listed and of local importance, special listed building consent is needed for them to take place. This decision is taken by the borough council.
