President Donald Trump reprimanded journalists at an Olympics press conference because, *checks notes*, no one applauded his trans sports ban ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Trump made the remarks while speaking at a Tuesday (5 August) press conference in light of the upcoming 2026 Olympic Games, which are due to take place in Los Angeles.

He doubled down on his February executive order, titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” , confirming that the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee would adhere to the order and ban trans athletes from women’s categories at the events.

In a White House broadcast, the president welcomed the US Olympic committee chair Gene Sykes and thanked him for “recently banning men from competing in women’s sports”, he said to a silent crowd.
