EL CENTRO — Imperial County employees in bargaining unions lashed out at the Imperial County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday afternoon.
The Teamsters Local 542 has lowered the request for a 5% increase for each worker, though the county maintains the negotiations are essentially over from its latest and best offer of a 3% pay increase.
Hortencia Castro said the union is only asking for something that is fair.
She said what angers her the most is the question of whether they deserve the 5% increase. Hopefully, she said, the supervisors do not feel this way but may think the rank-and-file employees do not need the 5%.
“Do you think 3% is enough for an hourly employee?” she asked. “We need answers, please.”
