EL CENTRO — A local program is helping Imperial Valley teens gain the skills and confidence they need to navigate adulthood successfully.

ReadyforLIFE Imperial Valley, operated by the Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program Community Foundation (IVROPCF), serves about 480 high school students each year through a mix of life skills training, career development, and individualized coaching.

“Anyone who is in our Imperial Valley high schools as well as alternative education high schools“” Program Manager Chantelle Gerardo said in an interview with the Imperial Valley Press.

The program’s curriculum covers instruction on healthy relationships, resilience, trauma management, financial literacy, and other essential skills. Students also have access to workshops on developmental assets,
