INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Education released 2025 IREAD testing results on Tuesday.
The Indiana Reading Evaluation and Determination (IREAD) assessment is designed to test Indiana third-graders' reading proficiency. This year's IREAD data indicates about 87.3% of Indiana's third-graders exhibit proficiency in foundational reading skills.
The number of Indiana third-graders with proficient reading skills increased by almost five percentage points from the 2023-24 school year to the 2024-25 school year. In 2023-24, about 82.5% of third-graders demonstrated proficient reading skills.
