EL CENTRO — The El Centro Fire Department has deployed resources as part of a state strike team assignment to support firefighting efforts at the Gold Fire in San Bernardino County.
The city’s Public Information Officer said on Tuesday that at approximately 2:30 a.m., a Type 6 OES engine from the City of El Centro was deployed with three personnel (one Captain, one Fire Engineer, and one Firefighter).
Battalion Chief Andrew Miller is serving as the Strike Team Leader. The team is working alongside OES engines from Holtville, Calipatria, Viejas, and the town of Independence in Inyo County, the city said.
As of Tuesday’s update, the Gold Fire is estimated at 936 acres with 5% containment. Crews are currently operating in the Big Bear Lake area.
