Jordan Castell and Bryce Thornton have combined to make 35 starts over the last two seasons in the Florida football secondary.

Thrust into starting roles as true freshmen, Castell and Thornton have grown up together in the back end of the Florida Gators ' defense.

"Didn't really know him when we first got here, but both as freshmen trying to play in the SEC, we got real close," Thornton said. "Used to hang out all day. Always used to go through the playbook. That's really a big thing with me and Jordan, and you see how it is today."

Both juniors, the 6-foot-2, 213-pound Castell will enter his third year as UF's starting free safety, while the 5-10, 211-pound Thornton is entering his third season starting at strong safety. Together, the duo project to provide experience and leadershi
