Angelo Sciacca always seemed to rise to the top of life’s biggest moments.
All eyes were watching the Paterson native at a recent banquet, for example, as he and Maj. Gen. Kris Belanger sliced a sheet cake with a cavalry sword to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Army .
And he was a distinguished guest a month later, when Belanger retired and gave up command of the 99th Readiness Division of the Army Reserve .
Sciacca, who died on July 23, less than a week after that ceremony, was among the oldest living Army veterans in the state, said a spokesperson for the Army Reserve . He was 100 years old and resided independently at a community for senior citizens in Brick Township.
