The playoff standard for the Boston Red Sox eroded post-2019 as did its yearly expectations. But Boston has reverted its playoff odds back to the norm for a big-market team with the additions of Garrett Crochet and Alex Bregman this offseason.
And, as of Wednesday morning, Boston’s playoff chances are 81.1%, according to FanGraphs. It’s the second-highest mark in the American League East, ahead of the New York Yankees , and almost 30% higher than Boston’s chances at this time last year. The club currently owns the top wild-card spot in the American League, followed by the Seattle Mariners and Yankees.
