A Sept. 26 dedication ceremony will officially recognize Fort Gordon's return to its old name.

The event honoring U.S. Army Master Sgt. Gary I. Gordon will be streamed live on the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence’s social media, www.facebook.com/ArmyCyberCoE. More details will be disclosed as the event draws near.

Gordon posthumously received the Medal of Honor for heroism displayed during the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia. Volunteering to defend wounded crew members at a helicopter crash site, he held off an advancing enemy force and protected the pilot even after exhausting all his ammunition.
