POUGHKEEPSIE – A City of Poughkeepsie firefighter was injured as he prepared to battle a fire on Roosevelt Avenue Wednesday afternoon. The firefighter, assigned to Tower Ladder 2, sustained a laceration to his hand while he was up in the ladder’s bucket, and a second-story window blew out, sending glass outward and into his hand. The fire was reported around 4 p.m. on August 6, 2025.

The city firefighters were assisted at the scene by the Arlington and Fairview Fire Departments.

The second story of the structure sustained smoke, fire, and water damage. The flames were contained to the bedroom area of the house and fire investigators from the Poughkeepsie Fire Department responded to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
