BRISTOL, Tenn. — The Speedway Classic baseball game from Bristol Motor Speedway was the top performing TV show Saturday night, despite incessant rains that delayed the start and ultimately pushed its conclusion to Sunday.
Fox network TV coverage drew an average of 1.78 million viewers Saturday night, with a peak of 2.4 million viewers during the actual game play, which lasted from 9:42 p.m. to 10:32 p.m., the network announced Tuesday.
The unique MLB contest between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds on a temporary field inside Bristol Motor Speedway attracted a live crowd of 91,032 to watch Tennessee's first professional baseball game. That established a new MLB regular season attendance record.
