A high street Pizza Hut restaurant that has welcomed thousands of diners through its doors will shut at the end of the month, bosses have confirmed.

The branch in Canterbury will close on August 30, after decades of serving customers in the city.

A spokesperson for the firm confirmed the news, with residents saddened but unsurprised to see it go.

Steve John wrote online: “The whole brand is doomed. I tried to use a Pizza Hut recently and they would only accept orders using an app. I had to leave the restaurant as I don’t like those apps.”

Angela Griffiths added: “Shame, in the 1990s my daughter loved the ice cream factory. We have loved Pizza Hut over the years.

“Let this be a lesson to retail: some customers like paying cash and don't like using the app to order.
