PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Some big names are coming to Providence Thursday as Boston Celtics members will be on hand to celebrate the groundbreaking of an early education center.
Head coach Joe Mazzulla, star Jayson Tatum and team president Rich Gotham will be heading to the Manton Heights neighborhood of Providence.
They’ll be joined by Amica, the team’s sponsor, and Mayor Brett Smiley.
The Shamrock Foundation Education Center is expected to open at Manton Heights Community Center in early 2026.
The Celtics said there is a direct need for high-quality educational programs in low-income areas, adding that this project directly responds to that.
After the groundbreaking at noon, the Celtics are set to hold a block party in Manton Heights.
