MANA — Jackie Nakamura earned the NAPA Ladies Night crown on Saturday when the Garden Isle Racing Association hosted its drag race series at the Kauai Raceway Park.

Nakamura, powering her 2010 Toyota Corolla, finalized the crown on a 17.50-second run down the quarter mile with her car topping 79.51 miles per hour and accomplishing the feat within, or above her dial-in of 17.50.

Nakamura added to the Ladies Night crown by taking top honors in the Street class racing when she clocked 17.53 in the finals against Mason Koetje who red-lighted. Nakamura’s Toyota iced the win at 79.42 mph on a 17.46 Dial-in.

Her opponent, Alma Koetje, broke out, or went faster than the dial-in 12.24 that was established earlier in the day during the tech runs. Koetje moved her ‘98 Chevy Corvette down the quart
