DETROIT - General Motors and Hyundai Motor Co. announced Wednesday plans for their first five co-developed vehicles, a step in the two automakers’ ongoing strategic collaboration.
The companies will co-develop four vehicles for the Central and South American markets, including a compact SUV, a car and a pickup, and a midsize pickup. The vehicles will offer either internal combustion or hybrid propulsion systems. The automakers will also co-develop an electric commercial van for the North American market.
Shilpan Amin, GM senior vice president and global chief procurement and supply chain officer, said in a news release that the vehicles target the largest segments in Central and South America.
