MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis fire crews are working to put down a fire at a vacant home on Thursday morning in the northern part of the city.
Assistant Fire Chief Melanie Rucker says crews responded just before 12:45 a.m. to a vacant house burning at 818 44th Ave. N. By the time firefighters arrived, heavy fire was showing from the first and second floors and flames had jumped to the unattached garage, a fence and a large tree near the structure. The roof of the home had partially collapsed.
Fire crews extinguished the flames in the tree and on the fence, and additional personnel was called in so the fire wouldn't spread to nearby homes.
