Eleven Mississippi nursing homes are considered "at risk" of closing if cuts laid out in President Donald Trump's Big Beautiful Bill happen. The national legislation passed last month.
U.S. senators requested a list of the nursing homes from each state from the Brown University’s School of Public Health. They published the report of care facilities that are most at risk for the public. In total, 579 nursing homes met all three risk criteria identified.
Eight rural hospitals in Mississippi were also considered at risk of closing if large cuts are made to Medicaid in a separate report. The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research , part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, identified more than 300 rural facilities that might close across the nation.
