SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

A pedestrian has died and a driver was hospitalized after a crash in Natomas on Wednesday, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers responded to the report of a crash involving a pedestrian around 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of Del Paso and El Centro roads.

Officials said the adult pedestrian died from their injuries. The driver who hit them was taken to an area hospital for their injuries.

It's unclear what led up to the collision. The area where the crash occurred has a number of surrounding businesses and Del Paso Road spans across nine lanes at that intersection.
