BOX ELDER COUNTY — A rear-end collision between two semi-trucks Wednesday afternoon sparked a fire along the highway near Tremonton, but a coordinated effort by multiple agencies quickly brought the blaze under control.
According to the Tremonton Fire Department, the lead truck had pulled over after the driver heard a loud "pop." As it merged back into traffic at a reduced speed, it was struck from behind by a second semi, causing a fire to ignite.
No injuries were reported.
Fire crews from Tremonton Fire, the Northrop Fire Department, and the Box Elder County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene. They were assisted by a passing crew from Grouse Creek and a nearby farmer who used a water tanker to help extinguish the flames.
