FOXBORO — The Patriots hosted the Washington Commanders on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at Gillette Stadium for joint practices, and it showed where New England is as the season gets closer.
Whether it was head coach Mike Vrabel emerging from a pile of players with a streak of blood on his face, or quarterback Drake Maye connecting with DeMario Douglas numerous times, and even the defense's opportunity against Jayden Daniels, the Patriots came out ready to play.

1. Mike Vrabel leaves with lasting memory from joint practice
During practice, Vrabel jumped into the middle of a scuffle in an attempt to break it up. But when he emerged from the pile, he had a streak of blood dripping down his face. It began when rookie TreVeyon Henderson blocked
