On July 8, Abel Avila, a Lyon County resident, appeared for sentencing on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or controlled or prohibited substance, third offense, a category B felony. The defendant was convicted for driving under the influence of both alcohol and marijuana with two previous convictions in the last seven years and was sentenced to 24 months to 60 months in the Nevada Department of Corrections.
